There will be free time where you can socialize with other volunteers, read up on the different species the reserve has, catch up on sleep and play games. It is recommended to bring preferred games along. <\/p>\n

Other side trips include visiting the Tortuguero Village, browse its small souvenir shops and visit the delicious bakery. <\/p>\n

Interns that will be on project for a longer period will be able to explore on their long weekend breaks. They could visit the Caribbean region, hike, go snorkelling ot fishing. There is white river rafting, canopy tours and zip-lining tours as well for those who love adventure.<\/p>\n

For something a bit more intense, you could raft on the white waters of the famous Pacuare River on class III to IV rapids over the course of 1- or 2-day trips. GVI needs to obtain a scientific permit for all volunteers, we will require: Legible scanned copy of passport, A brief copy (1 page max) of CV or resume, professionally translated into Spanish and a professional passport-sized photo<\/p>\n

GVI medical form signed by volunteer & doctor should they have anything to declare<\/p>\n

Volunteers will need strong fitness levels.
\nWalking on soft sand is very physically demanding and volunteers may be required to walk as much as 20 miles in a single day, carrying up to 6 litres of water per person and will be doing surveys 6 days a week in hot, wet, and humid weather.<\/p>\n","program_application_process":"","program_visa_information":"

Field staff advise that you enter the country using a 90 day tourist visa. Requirements are dependent on your citizenship, for most nationalities this does not need to be arranged in advance. Check with the immigration authorities of the countries you intend to visit, or see www.cibt.com. Ensure you are given enough days to cover your stay. <\/p>\n

For 6 month interns and volunteers staying longer than 90 days, you will need to do a boarder run to renew your tourist visa. This will be at your own expense, however GVI staff will assist you with this process. Most interns and volunteers use this as an opportunity to see more of Central America. Please note, you might be asked to provide proof of departure within 90 days of arrival.
