Field staff advise that you enter the country using a tourist visa. You should state you are in the Seychelles \u2018for Tourism\u2019. For most nationalities this can be obtained upon arrival. Check with the immigration authorities of the countries you intend to visit, or see www.cibt.com for visa application advice and information.<\/p>\n

Please ensure you have an onward\/ return plane ticket booked as you will not be allowed to enter the Seychelles without one. Upon entry you will either be given a one week or one month visa. Do not worry, as GVI will extend this visa to cover the duration of your trip to a maximum of three months. If you are on a 12 week expedition please ensure you do not exceed the three month limit by arriving too early or remaining in country following the programme. Whenever travelling you should be aware of the risk of opportunist crime and take common sense precautions to minimise the chance of becoming a victim. The vast majority of visits to the Seychelles are trouble-free, but if you have any specific questions about your safety and security on the program please contact GVI.<\/p>\n

The nearest emergency medical facilities are located in Victoria on Praslin Island. GVI staff are trained in first aid, and during your training you will receive First Aid training. First aid kits are provided on base and in boats\/vehicles. Please note that GVI cannot provide specific medical advice. The archipelago consists of 116 islands spread over 1 million km\u00b2 of the western Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar, with a total land area of 444 km\u00b2, making the island nation just about the size of Andorra, or 2.5 times the size of Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p>About half of the islands are of granitic origin, with narrow coastal strips and central ranges of hills rising up to 900 m at <strong>Morne Seychellois<\/strong>, the highest peak in the archipelago. The other half are coral atolls, many of them uninhabited.<\/p>\n<p>The island nation has a population of 92,000 (in 2015), capital city is Victoria on Mah\u00e9, the largest island.
